Why Bees Belong at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary – Supporting Pollinators in Cornwall

Alongside caring for rescued seals, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary is also home to a thriving hive of native Cornish black bees. Working with the Cornish Black Bee Company, the sanctuary is helping to protect pollinators, restore wildflower habitats, and boost biodiversity in Cornwall, proving that conservation can happen both above and below the water.
A sad farewell to Cliff

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our much-loved puffin, Cliff, who sadly died after a sudden illness on Friday 5th September. Cliff quickly became a favourite among the team and visitors, he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Cornwall Council has voted to discourage the sale of dangerous flying rings, thanks to the efforts of the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, our supporters, and partners like the Seal Research Trust and BDMLR. This move is a vital step in protecting seals from injury and suffering caused by discarded plastic toys.

A second chance for Leaf Cutter

Leaf Cutter, a grey seal pup rescued in poor condition, has been released back into the wild after receiving vital surgery and months of rehabilitation at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary. Her recovery was made possible thanks to public donations, and supporters can now track her journey via GPS as she explores the ocean once more.
