Work Experience at the Sanctuary

The Cornish Seal Sanctuary is now proud to offer short and long-term Work Experience Placements!

Operations Placement

Spend a week with us (40 hours), shadowing members of staff from all the different departments here at the Sanctuary. This placement will give you a good overview of the work we do and how we run as a charity/business.

You will work with the following departments:

  • Education
  • Events
  • Food and beverage
  • Front of house

You will get a glimpse into daily life at the Sanctuary.

There will be plenty of things to learn, activities to take part in and people to meet!

Education Placement

We are now accepting applications for full time placements with a duration of 3-6 months with flexible start dates throughout the year (and immediate start dates available). During your placement, you will be assisting our Entertainment and Education department across a range of duties that could include:

  • Delivering in-person talks around the Sanctuary about our residents and the work that we do to our guests, sharing your passion for our wildlife and conservation efforts
  • Interacting with our guests around the Sanctuary, answering their questions and sharing your knowledge – every single one of our thousands of visitors each year should leave the Sanctuary should have learned something new!
  • Assisting in the provision of on-site educational workshops and off-site outreach events for people of all ages
  • Helping to prepare for, and provide, a range of on-site events - for example our Conservation Clubs for young people

Benefits of volunteering with the sanctuary

Of course, there are a whole host of benefits you will receive while completing your placement with us at the Sanctuary:

  • An outstanding addition to your CV, and a reference if needed
  • A chance to really make a difference through the opportunity to share your knowledge and passion for conservation, engage with our local community, educate the next generation and support a great cause
