Welcome to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary

The SEA LIFE TRUST Cornish Seal Sanctuary is a charity that rescues and rehabilitates grey seal pups from around the Cornish coastline.

Each season (September - March), the Sanctuary rehabilitates around 70 seal pups that have been rescued for various reasons, from malnourishment to being separated from their mum.

When visiting the Sanctuary, you can experience wonderful marine animals up close and personal and learn all about their individual stories.

Meet our Resident Seals!

Beyond our vital seal rescue work, the Sanctuary is home to 9 resident Grey Seals and 3 Common Seals, providing a safe and enriching environment for these animals that cannot be released.

Many of them have been injured or displaced and would not survive in the wild. Here at the Sanctuary they receive expert care while helping us educate visitors about the threats facing their species and the importance of marine conservation.

Meet Rescued Puffins at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary

Our resident puffins are full of character and always a hit with visitors! With their colourful beaks and playful antics, these seabirds are fascinating to watch as they dive, swim, and waddle through their specially designed habitat.

Puffins face serious threats in the wild, including climate change and habitat loss. At the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, we’re proud to care for these incredible birds and share their rescue story with every guest.

At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to protecting marine wildlife and their habitats. Through rescue, rehabilitation, and long-term care, we provide a lifeline for animals in need while inspiring people to take action for the ocean’s future.
